Privacy policy — ChickTick

Last updated: 30 September 2026

ChickTick is a farm-management aid for poultry farmers. This policy explains, in plain English, what the app does with your information.

The short version

  • Your flocks and records stay on your phone. There is no account and no login, and ChickTick has no copy of your records.
  • The app works offline. It only goes online to download supplier price lists and, if you use it, for the ChickTick market.
  • The price download is a plain download: nothing about you or your farm is sent.
  • The ChickTick market is optional. If you put a batch on it, the listing (birds, weight, ready date, price, town, farm name, your name and phone) is sent to the ChickTick server. The batch is shown publicly; your name and phone are shown only to registered buyers, unless you choose to show them to anyone. The listing stays up until you take it down or it expires. Offers, deals and ratings on your listings are kept on the server too. See "The ChickTick market" below.
  • Otherwise data leaves the phone only when you send an order, export a file or share something yourself.
  • You can delete everything at any time from More → Export → Delete all my data; your market listings are taken down at the same time.

What the app stores on your device

  • Your farm profile: farm name, your name and nearest town (all optional).
  • The supplier you buy from and the outlet you order from, if you choose them.
  • Your flocks and their records: placements, daily records, weighings, vaccinations, medications, feed deliveries, sales and expenses.
  • Your settings: currency, exchange rate, reminder time and the feed prices you enter.
  • Questions you draft for your adviser, so you can see what you sent.
  • Automatic local backup snapshots (the last seven days) in the app's private storage, so a crash or a bad import does not lose your records.

All of this is kept in the app's private storage on your phone. Uninstalling the app removes it.

What the app does not do

  • It does not create accounts or ask for a password.
  • It does not send analytics, usage statistics or crash reports to anyone.
  • It does not show advertising or use tracking identifiers.
  • It does not read your contacts, photos, messages or files, other than a backup file you choose to restore.

Suppliers and orders

ChickTick is independent of the feed companies whose price lists and outlets it shows. When you order, the app writes the order and opens WhatsApp, your email app or the share sheet addressed to the outlet you picked. The order goes from you to that supplier; ChickTick does not receive a copy. What the supplier does with it is governed by the supplier's own terms.

The ChickTick market (optional)

If you choose to put a batch on the ChickTick market, the listing is sent to the ChickTick server: number of birds, breed, weight, ready date, price, your town, farm name, your name and the phone number you enter. Anyone can see the batch, your town and your farm name on the market. Your name and phone number are shown only to buyers who have registered and logged in, unless you choose "Anyone" when you publish; then they are shown to everyone who opens the market, and the market's public data feed includes them. You tick your agreement before the first listing. A listing disappears a week after the ready date (at most 30 days) or as soon as you take it down, and it is taken down automatically when you record the sale of the last birds. Your phone creates its own key to sign your listings, so only your phone can change them; no account is made and nothing else about your farm or records is sent. ChickTick may take down listings that break the rules.

Registered buyers can send an offer on your listing. While you have a listing, the app checks the server for offers (at most every 15 minutes, when the app is open) and the offers are kept on your phone. When you accept an offer, you see the buyer's phone number and the birds are set aside for them. The server keeps the offer and its progress (collected, paid), any problem either side reports and the star rating each side gives, so that ChickTick can help settle a dispute. A buyer's average rating is shown to other farmers, and the average rating buyers give you is shown on your listings. The money itself changes hands between you and the buyer; ChickTick does not handle payments.

Location (optional)

In Find a branch you can tap Use my location to sort a supplier's outlets by distance. The app reads your position once, on your device. Your position is not stored and is not sent anywhere. If you decline, you can search by town instead and nothing else in the app changes.

Exports, backups and sharing

  • Export, backup and CSV files are created only when you tap the button. They are handed to the share sheet on your phone; where they go (WhatsApp, email, a drive) is your choice and is governed by that service's own terms.
  • Ask an adviser composes a message containing your question and, if you choose a flock, its key numbers. The message opens in WhatsApp, your email app or the share sheet. Nothing is sent until you send it there.
  • Restoring a backup reads a file you pick and writes its records into the app's database. Rows that fail validation are reported, not imported.

Notifications

Daily task reminders are scheduled locally on your phone. They are not sent through a server and contain only the flock name and the tasks due. You can switch them off, change the time or mute a category in Settings.

Deleting your data

Open More → Export → Delete all my data. This removes every flock, record, snapshot and reminder from the phone and takes your market listings down (deleting one flock takes its listing down too). ChickTick holds no copy of your records. Offers, deals and ratings from the market stay on the ChickTick server so that disputes can be settled; to have them removed, email us. Files you exported earlier remain wherever you saved them.

Children

The app is intended for farmers and farm workers and is not directed at children under 13.

Your rights and how to reach us

Your flock records never leave your device, so you already hold the only copy. For anything the ChickTick market holds about you (listings, offers, deals, ratings) you can ask to see, correct or delete it, or ask any question about this policy, at support@chicktick.co.zw. Changes to this policy will be shown in the app and on the store listing with a new date.
